What to do when you feel down :(

You may think that such a rainbowy sparkly being like me never gets down in the blues, but that's something that happens to everyone. And when it does, it feels like nothing will get better ever again. But I have a special little list of things to do when you feel depressed, and I'm going to share it with you. Maybe it can help you too :)

1. Listen to music

Yes, it sounds cliché. I know. I used to get annoyed by this suggestion before. I thought that music was just sounds, and that it couldn't understand or comfort you. Then I heard a beautiful song: "Teen Idle" by Marina and the Diamonds. This is also very cliché, but it felt like the song was made for me. So yes, music can understand you. Try new styles, new genres, new bands and you may find your song. It will help you, I promise. And if it doesn't, keep looking! There are millions of tunes waiting for you...
Here is a link to "Teen Idle". I still listen to it every time I feel down. (It's the Homestuck version btw. What can I say? I love Homestuck ^_^)

2. Play a game

Wallowing in your depression doesn't make it go away. You need to take your mind off of it, pronto! And what better way to do that than play games for several hours?
Minecraft is my favorite way of calming down. I like to play it in Creative Mode so I can build awesome castles instead of laying in bed and crying all day(although doing that can feel good too at times). But there are millions of other games out there that you can play instead. But try to stay away from the frustrating rage-inducing ones, they won't help.

3. Look at something that will make you smile

Like videos of cute little kittens. At first you'll think "Ugh, this is dumb, stupid little kittens are stupid bleh bleh", but then the cute little kitten starts singing or meowing adorably or does a triple backflip or something, and then you start smiling. Against your will, but still. Smiling is good. So even if you feel stupid sitting there smiling at kittens when you want to wallow in misery instead, keep watching. It will get better the smilier you become.(Smilier? That's not a word, is it? It should be...)

Try this kitten video. Or why not these?

Sadly, these are all the "anti-depression" things I can think of right now. I'll add more if I find more. Hope this helped a little :)

Love,

Sparkledragon
